Alton Towers Toxicator to open 15th March

Alton Towers have today released new footage and opening date confirmation of their new Huss Top Spin ride ‘Toxicator’ which will be in the Forbidden Valley area of the park.

The new ride, which has been under construction since last year will open with the start of the season on the 15th March 2025.

What is Toxicator?

Toxicator is a Huss Suspended Top Spin which will be placed on a platform making it the world’s tallest top spin. We know from the video that it also has a fountain package which will mean, much like Ripsaw, you might get wet depending on the settings for the fountains.

The elevated position of Toxicator is going to make it a great ride to watch as well as ride and fills a much-needed gap for flat rides at Alton Towers…especially with the removal of others during the closed season.

Toxicator Theming

The theming of Toxicator is best described with a question: ‘What theming?’

From the video below we can see the main gondola is green with the rest of the ride being black with some tiny black/yellow effects on a couple of supports.

We can also see the fountains have a green backdrop to give the ‘toxic’ effect.

However, compared to the incredible job done with Nemesis Reborn I think we’re seeing the results of budget cuts at Alton Towers and in all honesty, this has got to be one of the worst themed flat rides in the country! (Let’s not even talk about the top spin at Phantasialand in Germany)

My Final Thoughts

Whilst a new flat ride is much needed for Alton Towers the top spin feels very out of place in Forbidden Valley with colours that look out of place and a lack of theming. It’s certainly more of a nostalgia nod for Alton Towers than a brand new ride and personally, it’s not enough to make me want to visit this season.
