Chessington gets planning permission for Project Refresh and Renew

We know 2025 is a transitional year for Chessington with Mexicana closed as it makes way for Project Play, a new (Paw Patrol rumoured) themed area opening in 2026 with new kids coaster and 3 flat rides and closes Wild Asia to make way for the 2027 Minecraft Land which will see a new indoor coaster and flat rides.

It was surprising to learn a few weeks ago that despite planning permission not being granted that Wild Asia would not open at all for 2025 but good news for Chessington…on Wednesday their local council unanimously voted to approve Project Refresh and Renew which means the park can now begin completely flattening the area of the park which has previously been known as Circus World, Beanoland and Wild Asia ready for Minecraft land.

All in all it’s a really exciting time for Chessington and I will certainly be visiting in 2027 although I’m still disappointed they’re going down the IP route rather than unique themes as I do think it takes away from the park but I’m sure Paw Patrol and Minecraft will draw in plenty of new visitors!

Rumba Rapids at Thorpe Park originally opened in 1987 as Thunder River and has been a staple at the park ever since, undergoing a rebrand to Ribera Rumba Rapids and eventually becoming known as Rumba Rapids as the sponsorship ended. However, over the last couple of years the ride has operated for less of the […]

ASPRO turns down offer to save Oakwood Theme Park

We reported a few weeks ago that Revive.Wales had a plan to save Oakwood Theme Park after ASPRO announced it would not reopen for 2025 and made it’s future even more uncertain by removing a huge amount of rides from the park.
