Blackpool Pleasure Beach announces new gyro swing ride for 2026 plus more changes!

A few weeks back Blackpool Pleasure Beach provided a series of updates on the resort for 2025 which included various rides being closed for all or part of the season and promised an update on the future of the park soon. You can read more about that here.

Yesterday we got the first part of that update through a press release and video and there’s a lot to unpack!

New Intamin Gyro Swing Coming in 2026

There have been rumours about this ride for a while now but it is officially confirmed. This new ride (similar to the incredible Maelstrom at Drayton Manor…but much, much bigger) will be on the location of the Bowl-a-drome building and car park (the Bowl-a-drome is currently being demolished). It’s great to see this building being cleared as it hasn’t been used for a number of years now.

The images shown by Blackpool suggest we will be seeing the swing have a golden colour scheme and will hold 40 riders per cycle and it looks fantastic!

We know that this model of gyro-swing will have riders facing outwards and will swing at 120 degrees with a total height of of 138 feet tall. We also know it will have lap bars and seat belt only leaving riders feeling really free.

I cannot wait to ride this!

Have you seen this chicken/penguin/nun?

Blackpool Pleasure Beach have also confirmed they are working on bringing an update to their Wallace and Gromit ride following the incredible film ‘Vengeance Most Foul’ last year. The park have hinted at Norbot making an appearance and referenced the nun-scene in their video so we may see multiple new scenes in what is the UK’s best dark ride.

Launch Pad

Blackpool have also confirmed that Launchpad, the renamed and refurbished ‘Ice Blast’ will be opening in May.

River Caves

The final thing confirmed by Blackpool Pleasure Beach is that the re-imaging of River Caves which has been closed since early 2024 is underway. We don’t know anything more about the re-imaging of the ride but the park acknowledged the importance of protecting their history so I think we’ll see a smaller update rather than anything huge.

Summary

It’s great to see Blackpool make these positive announcements so soon after their disappointing announcements a few weeks ago and exciting to know they’re really thinking about the future of one of the UK’s best theme parks.
