Getting to Energylandia from Krakow

Just under 3 years ago on a Christmas market trip to Krakow I sat on a train and saw an advert for Energylandia, a theme park I had never heard of…by the end of that evening I’d booked tickets! I have since revisited and in this blog I’ll share how to go about getting to Energylandia from Krakow.

Why visit Energylandia?

Energylandia might not be the most well-known theme park in Europe but it is massive! At only just ten years old this park covers 70 hectares and has 19 coasters which includes a massive RMC ‘Zadra’, an Intamin hyper coaster ‘Hyperion’ and a fun launched coaster ‘Formula’ (you’ll also find ‘Viking’, a standard-layout spinning wild mouse with overhead bars…whatever you do…don’t do this!)

As the park has expanded Energylandia has upped their theming effort and the new Sweet Valley, Formula One themed area and Zadra’s area have some fantastic theming.

Krakow as a base

Krakow is around 55km from Energylandia and if you’re not wanting to stay at the Western Camp site which is situated very close to Energylandia then Krakow makes a great base with good transport options to Energylandia and is a beautiful city to explore with plenty to do. The Wieliczka Salt Mine just outside of Krakow is well-worth a visit and, for a more moving and eye-opening visit there are also trips from Krakow to Auschwitz.

You’ll also find plenty of affordable hotels in Krakow, lots of places to eat and drink and, everything in Poland is super-affordable…if you pay more than £3 for a pint you’ve done something wrong!

Getting to Energylandia by Coach

The first time we visited Energylandia which was for their Christmas event (night rides on Zadra are seriously good) we used their shuttle coach.

The Energylandia bus is booked separately to your tickets on their bus website and departs Krakow’s main bus station at stand 13 (this is near the station). The departure times vary depending on the time of year but the journey takes around 1 hour and will get you to the park for opening.

The return journey will leave just after park closing and will return you to Krakow.

This costs 49PLN per person which is around £9.50 for the round trip.

Getting to Energylandia by Train

The relatively new Zatorpark train station is situated near the park and Energylandia even put on shuttle land-trains to get you to and from the park entrance (but you can walk it in around 15 minutes).

The train departs from the main station in Krakow and go to Oświęcim with Zator Energylandia’s stop coming just after Zatorpark.

These trains run roughly every 30 minutes throughout the day and take about 1.5 hours. An adult ticket will set you back 12PLN each way (24PLN round trip) making it around £5 for a round trip and putting UK public transport prices to shame!

Driving to Energylandia

The third way to get there is by hiring a car and driving out to the park which will take you around an hour but, with the affordable prices of public transport there is absolutely no reason to do this!

Summary: Getting to Energylandia from Krakow

The trip out to Energylandia from Krakow is pretty simple and despite the park’s remote location it is easy to get to via public transport which is also really affordable.

Having used both the bus and the train I’d probably lean towards recommending the train, not only is it half the price (not that £10 is much even for the bus!) but trains run really regularly which gives you the flexibility to go later or even come up earlier if you want to. The only thing to note is that there doesn’t seem to be any live tracking for trains on this line which means if the train is delayed you just need to wait at the station and hope it turns up…our was about 40 minutes late coming back on the 2nd day.

In summary however, not only is Krakow a beautiful city to visit but Energylandia is within easy reach and well worth a visit!

Hey! Thank you for this information.
I’ll be visiting the park for the first time next week and I am freaking out… I am going alone and I am usually very lost when using maps or directions 🤣
I am scared I might not find the bus station. Is it easy to find it the bus stop?
I know this might sound stupid, but I really am nervous about this 🤣
    Thanks

      Hey Luiza,

The bus station is right outside the main train station so not tricky to find. When I used the bus a couple of years ago finding the right stand was a little tricky as it didn’t appear on the departure boards but the website says Małopolska Bus Station, 18 Bosacka St., stand G6 which (if it’s the same bus stop) was on the upper level. We allowed plenty of time to find the right stop and did find someone to ask as well as there was an information stand around as it’s the main bus station.

Hopefully that helps and good luck with your trip…you’ll love Energylandia!

      Mark
